It’s never boring in crypto for sure. Just when you start falling into the same old daily routine, (wake, coffee, check charts and prices, smoke, admire the portfolio, check for NFT sales and offers, smoke, shower) the space throws a curveball and you suddenly find yourself watching euphoria rear it’s all too familiar presence. Before I proceed, take a few moments to imagine this scenario.
It was another tough work week and finally you got through to Friday. It’s 4pm and the weather guy predicted heavy snowstorms and advises everyone to stay home. No one at the office wants to have a drink today so home it will be.
As the train pulls up to your station, you complete the purchase of a ticket to the event that will keep you entertained on this cold winter night, an online performance by Lady Gaga in the metaverse followed by a short documentary on her trials and tribulations growing up and surviving in the industry.
The ticket, which is an NFT, is checked for validity before allowing access using NFTYLab’s gating features and the first stop, the online concert, is hosted in virtual reality via CEEK’s VR Metaverse. As the night ends, you use the same NFT to access the independently made documentary on the Mogul Productions platform to understand how hard it is to survive as an entertainer in this day and age.
As the final credits roll, you fall into a deep slumber with snow beginning to fall outside. The NFT ticket stored in your wallet is the only reminder of this night, but it has one last use as a discount coupon on the Lady Gaga merch store online.
The above doesn’t sound too far-fetched isn’t it? In fact, it can already happen today with the 3 projects that I am writing about today.
Ceek, who aims to become the future of music streaming and entertainment, through their VR headset will allow users to gain access to top names in the business such as Bon Jovi, U2, Gaga as mentioned above, and more.
Mogul Productions specializes in digital movie collectibles and paraphernalia but on top of that, they also work with wannabe creators to have their movie funded and showcased via the platform.
NFTYLabs advances NFT technologies and adds utility that didn’t exist before to existing NFT tokens. They are also aiming to become cross-chain and support future verticals such as sports and places of interest.
These 3 projects have real-world use cases and adds value where there was none, especially more so now in this COVID age that we are living in. It is also no surprise that soon after Meta (formerly Facebook) decided to drop the Metaverse narrative into the mainstream, quite a number of crypto projects that have any form of relationship or connection to it started to gain more visibility.
The past week must have been a pleasant one for investors of these 3 projects. Volumes have spiked on ApeSwap, the decentralized exchange where their tokens are primarily listed and they have had price discovery that would have made anyone holding jump a little. (ok probably a lot!)
At the time of this writing, prices have corrected but the fact remains that the Metaverse will still exist in time to come and applications with features that will benefit it will remain strong and continue to do well as one-by-one, invariably they will become plugged-in into the digital universe.
As the idea of the metaverse evolves, you can be sure that there will be a huge use case for digital entertainment because that is the purpose of having metaverses/multiverses. Entertainment will come in the form of multiplayer gaming, media entertainment as well as individual *ahem* experiences.
CEEK & STARS are already well ahead of the pack and only time will tell if they will end up leading the charge for revolutionizing the way we consume media and it certainly looks like their roadmaps have been meticulously planned. On top of that, there have been notable partnerships formed with famous artistes (CEEK) and gamification specialists (STARS).
NFTY has introduced a totally new concept to NFTs. No longer are our NFTs sitting in digital wallets, admired once every now and then and sold for profits. In the interim as we own them, project owners can organize events which are “members only” and utilize NFTY’s offerings to secure access to it.
There are probably other creative ways to leverage on what these 3 projects can offer. And as the developers build and create new use cases, the community will supplement that by adding their own use case variants. That pushes the technological envelope further so that we benefit more.
Last but not least, though most of the folks that are in the crypto space are seeking gains that rival the traditional investment schemes, do remember that as long as the project remains active and has a vision to solve a real-world problem or even to enhance a feature, prices will eventually adjust to it’s value.
For holders of $BANANA that are still awaiting the higher price floor, we will get there. In the meantime, there are fantastic gems in partnerships such as the 3 mentioned in this short write-up. ApeSwap ultimately does provide. Just like a cheeky monkey, you can never tell accurately what comes next.
