M-M-M-M-Monster Kill!

The advent of Blockchain Gaming (ApeSwap GameFi Partners)

There are still boomer gamers like me immersing ourselves in fantasy worlds online or happily spending time on mobile games with the limited time we have, whilst juggling work and family. The point is, it doesn’t matter how hardcore we are or are not, but the loyal dedication to putting aside everything else in the real world just to take on a new persona or to achieve another milestone in the game that we are playing.

Back then, video games were finished products. There were no patches and no bugs to speak of. If the game had an issue, gamers would drop it like a hot potato and move on to the next. It was brutal for developers but man, some of the great games are still being played up till today because they had to ensure that everything was tested.

With the Internet gaining popularity, gaming became more of a social affair. We had online games where we could interact with others around the world and it started the MMORPG era where I, undoubtedly, spent most of my time in my room much to the dismay of my parents.

Fast forward to today, we have so many options centered around mobile, console and PC gaming. Hardware advancements has kept the gaming industry going strong and there doesn’t seem to be a ceiling to what game developers can do in the future.

In comes the Blockchain, with a new set of ideas centered around video gaming. In the crypto space, it is known as GameFi, a mix of gaming with some financial benefits rolled into the package. The GameFi segment is still in it’s infancy today but projects are sprouting up so fast and so numerous that gamers have a plethora (and confusion) of choices to spend time in. And to us gamers, time is one of the most important resource that cannot be recovered.

In a nutshell, GameFi is all about swapping time for rewards and in the process, enjoy a game like you would normally do so together with all the social aspects that come with it. Be it a new community to engage with in Discord/Twitter or to celebrate pwnage of another player, these are gaming moments that will stay with you for years to come, or even a lifetime.

My time as a hardcore gamer who spends 12–14 hours a day grinding is long gone. But it has been replaced by a social gamer who still spends an unhealthy amount of time in a game that can make me feel involved with. Obviously, during times when I’m not moderating the ApeSwap chat, I am probably killing monsters or farming resources on a few of the GameFi products below. 😂

At the onset of this GameFi boom, I decided to briefly share some information of the ApeSwap’s GameFi partners so you may want to give them a try or explore those that you never knew existed.

Seedify.fund

ApeSwap X Seedify recently happened and was one of the main reasons for writing this article. Seedify is a blockchain GameFi incubator and launchpad. Together with ApeSwap, I foresee endless possibilities with the huge rush of GameFi projects rushing to go-live. Both ApeSwap and Seedify will support game developers in such a way that they would be able to focus on the gaming experience for us users.

There’s so many partner GameFi projects…
That it is impossible to put them into one image

Free-to-Play

Games tagged with this are the ones with no financial entry requirements. Just create an account and you will be fully able to start playing straightaway.

Play-to-Earn

These are projects that will allow the swapping of time for rewards, usually in the form of a token. Most times, the more time you spend grinding, the greater the amount of rewards.

Play-to-Win

Get some tokens and wager to win! These platforms are usually provably fair and offer a quick gambling fix for those who prefer to try their luck.

HybridFi

I coined this term to indicate that the project has some element of gaming within but it may be coupled with other features such as NFTs or DeFi. The focus may not necessarily be on the gaming aspect but it is available for users to explore.

This is a short article because I believe that the graphic would be a much better way of conveying the message. I am a strong advocate of ApeSwap and I do hope the Ape developers continue to incubate and introduce distinctive, high calibre GameFi projects together with Seedify. That would cement both platforms as a superior launchpad alternative for gamefi developers in the space.

As usual, I would also like to thank the ApeSwap community for helping me identify the GameFi projects as I wouldn’t have been able to do it on my own.

Thank you for reading the article in it’s entirety and I am very appreciative of it. Should you have any urge to support ApeSwap or myself, do consider joining us on Telegram — https://t.me/ape_swap or buy some $BANANA and stake them for some passive income.
